Tortured Soul at the Imperial

Why take our word for it when it comes to the awesomeness of Brooklyn electro-jazz fusionists Tortured Soul? Instead, consider the following endorsement from no less than Lenny Kravitz, who famously described the trio’s music as “something I’d wake up to on a Saturday morning when the sun is coming through the window” (and, presumably, after a show where he hasn’t ripped his leather pants from scrotum to sternum, thereby exposing his flapping dong to the world).

Tortured Soul is indeed pretty great, having spent most of this century bridging the worlds of downtempo electronica and cool-cat jazz. That’s led to invites to both the Detroit Electronic Music Festival and the Montreal International Jazz Festival, and performances with everyone from Chaka Khan to Carl Cox.

Catch Tortured Soul at Vancouver’s fantastic Imperial on Friday (September 25). And don’t forget to check the stitching if you’re planning to wear Lenny Kravitz–brand leather pants.
