Hedley at the Hard Rock Casino

If we had to wager on it, we’d say the odds are pretty good that if you spent the evening of Friday (December 20) in the unincorporated town of Hedley, British Columbia, you wouldn’t have that great a time. We only say that because Hedley’s official website lists, under the heading of Things to Do, “Birds Galore” and “The Hedley Cemetery”. While there may be a few oddballs who would consider birdwatching or visiting a small-town graveyard perfectly reasonable activities to engage in on a frigid December night in a place with no streetlights, you’re more likely to enjoy yourself in Coquitlam that particular evening. That’s when Hedley, the band, plays the 1,100-seat theatre at the brand-spanking-new Hard Rock Casino, which used to be called the Boulevard Casino before a multimillion-dollar renovation. In addition to the theatre, the new facility boasts seven restaurants and an 80,000-square-foot gaming floor—which is a hell of a lot more than you’ll find in Hedley, B.C.
