      Obligatory Christmas Music Vol. 1

First of all, Obligatory Christmas Music Vol. 1 boasts the best cover art of the year, a crude painting of old Kris Kringle standing on an urban rooftop, admiring the backside of a young nubile bent over a brightly wrapped package while a 30-storey-tall, fire-breathing racoon terrorizes the city behind him. The opening line of the first song, “Santa and Mary”, truly sets the tone for what follows: “What’s wrong with people making Christmas-themed porno?” Indeed. And what’s wrong with Dr. Tweenus Gonzo recording intentionally terrible Christmas-themed songs for his friends (and anyone else who cares to listen)? Not a damn thing, and you’ve got to admire the honesty of a man who, on his Bandcamp page, admits, “I can’t bring myself to record straight Christmas music, and I’m too childish to do anything but extremely tasteless bullshit.” Amusing for one listen, at least.

It's like a Nick Cave Christmas EP or something. The Only Day Of Christmas is a highlight for me personally, along with Santa's Magic Fingers and that final track about the 30-elf gangbang.
