This year’s Squamish Valley Music Festival lineup has been released, with the headliners including Detroit soul-man Bruno Mars, Montreal indie-rock titans Arcade Fire, and multi-platinum rapper Eminem.

At a press conference held at the Commodore Ballroom this morning (January 29), co-promoters Live Nation and brand.LIVE promised a 2014 event that will compete with the world’s best festivals.

“What we’re doing today with Squamish is taking it to the next level, delivering a bigger and better that we’ve ever seen before,” said Live Nation Canadan president Paul Haagenson.

Squamish, which takes place at the Logger Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields from August 8 to 10, will feature four main stages over an area that’s been expanded from 32 acres to 81 acres. The additional space will boost potential attendance to 35,000 per day, up from 19,000 last year. Camping facilities will also be expanded.

In addition to the headliners, the lineup will also include Broken Bells, Artic Monkeys, Lykki Li, Foster the People, the Roots, Thievery Corporation, the Sam Roberts Band, and Atmosphere. Past Straight Series acts such as the Head and the Heart, Lord Huron, and Hollerado are also on the bill.

Local talent making its way to the festival will start with Good For Grapes, Louise Burns, Rykka, and We Are the City.

Squamish will also include a new EDM area, with Blueprint Production helping with the booking.

Regular weekend passed will start at $295. Single-day passes will go on sales closer to the event.
