Biffy Clyro at the Commodore Ballroom
Sometimes persistence pays, although in rock ’n’ roll it’s usually a waste of time. It’s a given that by the time any act is celebrating its double-digit anniversaries, it has already been as successful as it’s ever going to be. Every rule has its exceptions, however, and Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro has proven to have no best-before date. The group formed in 1995 and shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, it scored its first number-one entry on the U.K. album chart with last year’s Opposites, which also yielded a North American radio hit in the form of “Black Chandelier”. The fact that Biffy Clyro is only now blowing up in a major way probably has long-time fans bemused, but at least they’ll have the satisfaction of being able to wear an impressively worn-in Blackened Sky–era T-shirt when the pride of Kilmarnock plays the Commodore on Saturday (February 8).
