Jonathan Toubin at Electric Owl

Perhaps you’ve just scored a ball-hugging blue ’70s jumpsuit at Value Village, and seriously need to show it off in a place where you won’t be judged. Or maybe you’ve just lucked into a crate of vintage Ray-Bans and have no place cool enough to wear them. Problem solved on Saturday (March 1) when New York City’s Jonathan Toubin blows into Electric Owl. Famous for filling dance floors with his crates of exhaustively sourced vintage 45s, Toubin is known to run with the likes of Andrew W.K. (who, at the risk of understating things, knows how to not only party, but party hard). As if that’s not great enough, riding shotgun for the celebrated DJ’s Vancouver appearance will be Vinyl Ritchie, the Ballantynes, the Shivas, and Calvin Love. If you’ve been thinking of putting that original vinyl version of Sam & Dave’s “Soul Man” up on eBay, might we suggest holding off until least Sunday when, in addition to a glorious hangover, you might wake up with a new appreciation for the good stuff.
