Ron Reyes has a Personality Crisis moment

Doubly former Black Flag vocalist Ron Reyes will join ex-Personality Crisis guitarist Richard Duguay and his band the Hellhounds for a short set at the climax of Duguay’s WISE Hall gig, tonight (March 21).

“He’s coming to town and doing a whole set of his original songs and covers and stuff, and we’re finishing the night out with a short set of Personality Crisis songs," Reyes told the Straight from his Vancouver home base. "I think we’re calling it Borderline Personality Disorder."

Reyes, who caught the original, Winnipeg-based band several times at the Smilin’ Buddha, called PC "one of my favourite all-time Canadian punk bands, if not punk bands in general. Their live show was always amazing.”

Asked if there's any chance he'll belt out a few Black Flag tunes—or if, indeed, he would ever sing those songs again—Reyes laughed.

“I think I’ve got it out of my system!" he said. "I’ve learned never to say never, but the only scenario I could see it happening, and this will never happen, is if Henry (Rollins) wanted to do something with all four singers, and he was on board. I’d probably do that. But I'll definitely never, ever, play with Greg (Ginn) again, and Henry never will do that, so I think the short answer is, no.”

Reyes is presently in the process of auditioning new vocalists for his own band, Piggy, whose debut album crept out to little notice while he was on tour with Black Flag.
