Saturday Night Live cast member Kyle Mooney plays Nardwuar for Matt Mondanile interview

There are many ways to make a case that someone has officially made it.

Maybe they've hung out backstage with the likes of Jay-Z. Or been asked if they drink a lot of coffee by Michael Moore. Or perhaps they count the likes of Snoop Dogg and Pharrell as being among their countless admirers.

Nardwuar the Human Serviette can of course claim all of those things.

But the biggest sign yet that the celebrity interviewer is now a genuine North American treasure, as opposed to just a Vancouver one, comes from the below clip starring musician Matt Mondanile (Real Estate, Ducktails), and Saturday Night Live cast member Kyle Mooney.

The bespectacled Mondanile plays himself. Mooney, meanwhile, assumes the role of Canada's favourite interviewer, presenting his interviewee with the keys to Bruce Springsteen's motorcycle, rare vinyl by obscure American power-pop band Shoes, and a gift certificate for The Kosher Nosh deli in New Jersey.

Nitpickers will argue that the real-life Nard would never fall flat on this face like the fake Nard during the portion of the interview where he tries to connect Mondanile with rapper Master P.

And not to split hairs, but Mooney's "Who are you?" sounds nothing like Nardwaur's now-famous way of kicking off interviews.

But there's no denying that the Saturday Night Live actor nails the Nard's look, and not just because he somehow managed to track down a plaid tam in New Jersey. Here's the video.

And in case you're curious about the motivation for the video, check out the following Tweet. In early December Nardwaur ended up in the hospital after a stroke.

While he's since been discharged, he continues to recover. Evidently, Vancouverites aren't the only ones rooting for him.
