REPUBLIC reopens with ƱZ

After two weeks of being shuttered, REPUBLIC—formerly Queen’s Republic—reopens on today (April 17) as a “world class nightclub with a renewed focus on music,” in the words of Paul Stoilen.

The Donnelly Group operating partner said we can expect “EDM music in addition to hip-hop, chart, international acts, and everything else” at the refurbished nightspot. Trap Shit masked-man ƱZ headlines tonight's big splash.

When it first opened at 958 Granville Street in 2006, the bar followed a pub-by-day, club-by-night format and hosted live music. Stoilen is satisfied that this latest iteration is REPUBLIC’s best, with audio upgrades—”we’ve added a line array system,” he said—plus cosmetic changes including a “huge LED wall” and a new location for the deejay booth.

“We’ve always had an issue connecting the two floors,” said Stoilen. “We feel what we’ve done with this renovation connects the two floors more than ever.”
