Avid collector Howard  Blank is auctioning off some of his most prized items, including a rickshaw used by Elvis Presley in the movie It Happened at the World’s Fair.

Other items up for grabs at the Able Auctions facility (1055 Vernon Drive) on Saturday and Sunday (June 7 and 8) include over 100 signed guitars (autographed by B.B. King and Elvis Costello, among others) and original artwork by Michael Jackson and John Lennon.

“There’s movie posters here that I got when I was 10 years old, if you can imagine,” Blank told the Straight. “I would volunteer at the Vogue Theatre, and the manager, Mr. Bernard, would give me movie posters for running around helping all the workers there.”

Blank decided to sell some of his collectibles in order to raise funds for his ailing father, who has since passed away. Plus, he added, there simply isn’t enough room for everything in his new residence.

He hopes that the buyers enjoy his stuff as much as he did. “That’s what collecting’s all about,” Blank said. “Having something that makes you smile every day or makes you want to show off to your friends how excited you are about it.”

More information is at the Able Auction website.
