Pemberton Music Festival brings the goods

Okay, we get it: music festivals aren’t your thing. You’d rather listen to your tunes on your Linn Majik system in the privacy of your air-conditioned Yaletown condo than surrounded by the sweaty masses under the blazing July sun. Fair enough.

But you can do that anytime you want. How many chances will you have to witness, in person, the veritable smorgasbord on offer at the Pemberton Music Festival this Wednesday through Sunday (July 16 to 20)? How many more times do you think you’ll find veterans like Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, Outkast (pictured here), Snoop Dogg, the Flaming Lips, Randy Newman, the Violent Femmes, and Blondie on the same bill as shit-hot newcomers such as Schoolboy Q, Foxygen, Chance the Rapper, and Young the Giant? And how many more times will you get the opportunity to see such a wide spectrum of homegrown Canadian talent, including Metric, Grimes, Matthew Good, Gord Downie and the Sadies, Hayden, Matt Mays, Fucked Up, the New Pornographers, and even the Trailer Park Boys?

The answer is none. None more times.
