Allison Russell may not be coming home to Vancouver to roost just yet, but the former Vancouver singer and musician (Po’ Girl, Salt) is back in town for a flying visit this Sunday (September 7) at St James Hall with Birds of Chicago, the group she formed three years ago with Windy City resident JT Nero.

The pair, who released a self-titled album in 2012, perform original rootsy songs that elegantly blend such elements as folk, old-time, country, blues, gospel, and soul, and highlight their earthy yet ethereal lead vocals and harmonies.
