Any serious Vancouverite will tell you that it’s a foolish move to leave your umbrella at home—but we’re doing it anyway. With a week of straight sun on the docket, the great outdoors is calling, and there’s no better moment to top up your tan than lunchtime.

And what’s the one thing better than tanning in silence? Yup. Tanning to music.

About to enter its third week, CBC Vancouver Musical Nooners offers a free summer concert that runs (you guessed it) from noon until 1pm every weekday. Held on the CBC plaza at 700 Hamilton Street, the next five days will feature a blend of folk, indie pop, and a special Country Day with festivities and fair activities.

Monday (July 25) puts Wooden Horsemen in the spotlight. The Vancouver band is famed for taking charge of the stage with a strong beat, evocative lyrics and great vocals.

Tuesday (July 26) will feature Steph Cameron. The singer-songwriter’s debut album “Sad-Eyed Lonesome Lady” made the prestigious Polaris Music Prize Long List last year.

Wednesday (July 27) invites Big Little Lions to the plaza. Described as a blend of new-school folk and traditional dance rhythms, the band’s sound has been featured on The Vinyl Cafe and numerous TV, movie, and ad placements.

Thursday (July 28) is the CBC’s much touted Country Day. Offering games and treats like Prize Drop, bean bag toss, cotton candy, and a return of the Mexican popsicle food truck Rico 'n Lalo, these events are definitely kid and big-kid friendly.
Music will be provided by Raquel Cole—an exciting young country artist from Vernon, B.C. who is making waves with her songwriting and compelling vocals.

Friday (July 29) showcases up-and-comers Kaslo. Fresh from releasing their first EP, the band plays a sophisticated indie pop.

Don't forget to bring your sandwiches.
