On February 6, an array of artists will pay tribute to accordion-toting local songwriter Geoff Berner with a gig at the WISE Hall called Bernerland.

Copresented by homegrown festival Accordion Noir, the night will feature performances by the likes of Ford Pier, Rae Spoon, and Carolyn Mark, who will cover tunes written by the man of the hour. “Everyone’s going to be picking about two or three Geoff Berner songs. It’s part tribute, part roast,” explained Lee Shoal of the Creaking Planks, who are among the nine acts on the bill.

Shoal hinted that the Creaking Planks will be digging deep into Berner’s back catalogue to showcase some of his early material from the ’90s punk band Terror of Tiny Town. “It’s a general community appreciation of everything Geoff’s contributed musically and politically and humorously,” she said of the evening.

Meanwhile, she speculated that Berner might play a role in the Creaking Planks’ impending 10th-anniversary celebration on January 16 at the Emerald. The lineup for that $10 show will also feature Travis the Magician, the Minimalist Jug Band, and Ehren Salazar.
