Get the Halloween party started with the Straight's spooktacular playlist

Ah, Halloween—that brown-leafed vertigo where skeletal life is known. The ghosts will spook, the spooks will scare. Why, even Dracula will be there! And you feel like dancing. And you feel like shining. And you feel like letting loose. The carefree days are distant now. I wear my memories like a shroud... uh, sorry. Got a little carried away there. Halloween songs are the best, even the depressing ones. (We're looking at you, Siouxsie Sioux.)

That's why our All Hallow's playlist isn't just filled with party tunes. Oh, you can definitely dance to some of the 60 tracks below, but others are more suitable for scaring the living crap out of any little trick-or-treaters who happen to show up at your door.

Actually, don't do that. Terrifying kids is just mean. Grownups, on the other hand, are fair game. And there's something here to spook just about anyone, including fans of hip-hop (Kanye West and Tyler, the Creator), heavy metal (Ghost), industrial (Einstürzende Neubauten, Ministry), dark folk (King Dude, Chelsea Wolfe), classic goth (the Cure, Joy Division), creepy film scores (Halloween, The Omen), and however the hell you classify Tiny Tim. We even managed to sneak in a few treats by Vancouver artists, including Mu, Mode Moderne, Skinny Puppy, and Nim Vind.
