Foxmas at the Fox Cabaret gives back this Christmas

The holidays are a time to consume as much as humanly possible. Christmas is not Christmas without a turkey, a duck, or, if you’re extra lucky, a turducken—and that’s not to mention the Christmas cake, yule log, and all those chocolates you’ve already eaten out of your advent calendar. (Yes, we know you’ve already opened the door to number 24. We’re not judging.)

That is, however, not the case for everyone in the city. With a number of Vancouverites subsisting in poverty, there will be scores of families that go hungry this Christmas. The city’s homelessness crisis has reached record levels, and with the current cold snap, thousands of people will be forced to choose whether to spend their money on shelter or food.

The first annual Foxmas Christmas Pageant at the Fox Cabaret, however, is aiming to help. Transforming the venue’s décor into a winter wonderland and hosting a number of the city’s best musical acts, the Fox is offering 50 percent off the cover charge if guests bring a non-perishable item for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

Entertaining the crowd of philanthropic individuals will be acts like the Ballantynes, JP Maurice and his Band, Peach Pit, members of the Sunday Service, Sex With Strangers, and Twin River.

Offering an event that truly taps into the real meaning of Christmas, Foxmas will give you a chance to feel warm and glowy without the rum.

Foxmas Holiday Pageant and Food Bank Benefit is at the Fox Cabaret on Thursday (December 22)
