“Man, I feel like mould—it’s prom night and I am lonely”, sings Wheatus’s Brendan B. Brown on “Teenage Dirtbag”, a song that likely physically and lyrically soundtracked your real-life school graduation.

Let’s face it—most of us didn’t win the homecoming king or queen crown. A lot of us didn’t even have a date. And almost none of us managed to score that evening.

Offering you the opportunity to wind back the clock and make up for lost time, however, is the Fox’s '80s Night Valentines Prom party. What could be better than having the opportunity to do-over one of the nightmares of your tortured youth? Yeah, we can’t think of anything either.

Not just featuring the Fox’s resident Saturday night DJs Trevor Risk and Christa Belle, the evening will also welcome tunes from the Common People selectors Adam, Bryan, and Bazz, who will spin (we’re assured) the ultimate '80s V-Day party mix. We’re not sure what that entails, but we have our fingers crossed for multiple repeats of Devo’s “Whip It” (which is, at least, the perfect soundtrack for those Valentines Prom-goers also into BDSM.)

Upstairs in the projection room—the location that, as Mean Girls reminds us, is the go-to place for casual hookups—partygoers can swap spit, trade chewing gum, and mash braces at a Make-Out dance party hosted by DJs Zeeaa and December Furcoat. Expect rap and R&B: the two steamiest genres around.

The Fox will be decorated in perfect high school gym style, with balloons, streamers, and red tinsel. The team will also be giving out corsages and serving drinks from a punch bowl—but, we’re obliged to point out, it’s up to you to hire the limo.

With serious prizes up for grabs, those who manage to dust off their moth-eaten tux (think Ron’s dress robes in Harry Potter) or pink collared dress (think Eleven from Stranger Things) will be in the running for some great prizes—and the chance to finally be crowned prom king or queen.

Life ambition achieved.

The '80s Night Valentines Prom Party is at the Fox Cabaret on Saturday (February 11). Doors are at 10.30 p.m.
