Sure, it might have rained basically every day since December—but that’s only making us more excited for summer. And—as it turns out—the organizers behind Motion Notion festival agree.

Releasing phase one of the lineup for the 18th annual festival earlier this week, the bill is giving attendees plenty to look forward to.

Heading up the announcement is Canadian dubstep producer Datsik. Born and raised in Kelowna, the festival is a B.C. homecoming for the local boy, who has played on high profile stages including Coachella, Ultra, and Stereosonic.

Backing him up will be U.K.-based Avalon, who will be spinning high-energy psytrance.

Fellow England-natives Koan Sound and OSWLA labelmates the M Machine bring live instrumentation and funk-infused underground house music to the festival, while Dim Mak Records’ Dirtyphonics, kings of drum ‘n’ bass, will crank up the tempo.

Alongside those newcomers, fans will be happy to hear that festival favourite and Skrillex-signed Au5 will be returning this summer, as will Australian glitch and trap producer Doctor Werewolf, back for his fourth year.

Aiming to create a diverse sonic landscape to embrace a full spectrum of tastes, the festival is slated to feature more than 100 regional and international acts between August 24 and 28.

“We’ve brought the strongest team together to combine brand new transformational experiences—with one of our best lineups to date—to really take this festival to new heights,” Motion Notion director Kevin Harper says. “The collective efforts of our MoNo family have come together to deliver a beautiful and unique environment, and this year will by far top them all.”

The complete lineup is set to be announced on May 15—but until then, here’s the full list of the first wave.

Motion Notion is at Beaverfoot Lodge in Golden, B.C, from August 24 to 28.
