Curren$y at Fortune Sound Club
Isn’t marijuana supposed to make a person lethargic and slothful? Someone evidently forgot to tell Curren$y. The New Orleans–based rapper has never made any mystery of his fondness for the green. We are, after all, talking about a guy whose song titles include “Burn an Ounce” and “Smoke Break”. Floating around in a perpetual cheeba daze doesn’t seem to have affected Curren$y’s productivity in the slightest, though. Without even counting his dozen or so mix tapes, the MC born Shante Scott Franklin has released seven albums. To put that in perspective, it bears noting that he has only been releasing LPs since 2009. Next month, he’ll drop his second full-length of the year, The Stoned Immaculate. Somehow, in between recording sessions, Curren$y has also found time to head out on a tour, which brings him to Fortune Sound Club on Friday (May 11). In short, the man has made us feel so lazy that we’re seriously tempted to remedy that by starting a grow-op in our basement.
