Exitmusic at the Media Club

Given that it’s been sunny around these parts for the better part of three months, we could all use a little doom and gloom right now. Like, what the hell? Since when is Vancouver in October supposed to look like California in the ’70s? On that front, get ready to embrace the darkness this Friday (October 12) when Exitmusic pulls into the Media Club. Even if you haven’t heard the group’s dreamy take on Lynchian electro pop, chances are good that you’re familiar with at least one member of the two-piece. When she’s not creating the kind of druggy dreamscapes that bring to mind Julee Cruise, Mazzy Starr, and Beach House, singer Aleksa Palladino can be seen as Angela Darmody on reruns of the critically lauded show Boardwalk Empire. On-stage with Exitmusic she’s teamed up with her husband, Devon Church. Yes, that’s right—she’s married to someone with whom she’s making critically lauded, beautiful music. There, despite the weather we’ve been enjoying, is that depressing enough for you?
