Flaming Lips at Malkin Bowl

Last time the Lips (almost) rolled through town, it was at the Pemberton Festival, and things didn’t go so well for the Oklahoma City weirdniks or their entourage of pseudo Teletubbies. Maybe it was just a bum slot on an atrociously hot day, but Wayne Coyne and company seemed tired, frustrated, and cranky after an hour of waving their huge hands around and berating an indolent crowd that was on the verge of expiring from dehydration. Luckily, if there’s one thing the band positively and definitely won’t have a problem with when it appears at Malkin Bowl on Sunday (September 26), it’s an audience with sunstroke. Dress warmly, campers!
