Ladyhawk at the Biltmore
Okay, listen up, kids: there used to be a band that sort of ran things in this town. Well, not really, but these guys were popular. Real popular. Still are, too, come to think of it. But if you’re new to Vancouver’s indie scene, it’s unlikely you’ve ever seen Ladyhawk play. The four-piece has kept a low profile for the past couple of years while its members have been involved in other projects, like Sports and Duffy & the Doubters. But make no mistake about it: Ladyhawk is still very much alive and will prove that on Friday (March 30) when it plays the Biltmore. You should totally go, because once you’ve heard ragged-but-right rock anthems like “I Don’t Always Know What You’re Saying” and “Dugout”, you’ll be as hooked as any old-school fan. And that might even encourage the guys in Ladyhawk to book more than one gig a year and maybe even put out a new record, which they haven’t done since 2008. One can dream, right?
