Martha Wainwright resurrects Edith Piaf for Vancouver International Jazz Festival

The work of iconic French singer Edith Piaf’s will be resurrected through Canadian-born singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright for the 25th annual TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

A music connoisseur—namely Piaf’s—Wainwright comes from a brilliant musical background; her parents are both established folk singers, and her older brother, Rufus Wainwright, is famed for his contribution to the baroque pop scene. The rootsy family’s youngest child made her debut in 2005 with a self-titled album while living in New York City, but gained a slew of media attention with her second release I Know You’re Married But I’ve Got Feelings, Too in 2008.

Martha Wainwright Sings Edith Piaf is scheduled to perform on June 26. Tickets will go on sale on March 25.

The full lineup for the festival will be announced on April 28.
