The Mickey Hart Band at the Vogue

Here’s a true story: one time, way back in the day, we went to San Francisco with a giant posse of friends the same weekend there was a Grateful Dead concert. (The stewardess actually got on the airplane with a special shout-out to all the “Deadheaders” on board). One member of said posse scored a couple of tickets to the Dead, which we refused to go to on the sole basis that it violated every sacred rule of punk rock. Bad mistake. You know you’ve missed something special when someone returns from said show with a trench coat full of hash brownies. That’s right: a fucking trench coat full. And whatever was in those brownies, it was totally amazing. Ever gone to Alcatraz baked right off your fucking ass? If not, you have our deepest sympathies. That Frisco trip was so perfect, we’re going to make up for a blown opportunity by heading to the Vogue on Tuesday (May 8) to catch former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart and his ace band.
