The Polish Ambassador at the W2 Media Café

If you can look past the hideous ’90s track suit, the oversize thrift-store sunglasses, and his generally unkempt appearance, you might discover that the Polish Ambassador is up to some cool shit. No, not the real one. We have no idea what the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Vancouver, Krzysztof Czapla, is up to these days. (We didn’t even know his name until about 30 seconds before we wrote that last sentence.) We’re talking about David Sugalski, the California-based electronic musician whose stage name is the Polish Ambassador. Sugalski specializes in downtempo electro that is by turns silkily sexy and beautifully spaced-out. Best of all, he has made his entire discography—all eight albums’ worth—available as a free download on his website . And on Friday (November 16), he’ll be transforming W2 Media Café into his own personal chill-out room. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, you could always stand across the street from the Polish consulate with a bottle of Wyborowa and a pair of binoculars and wait for something interesting to happen.

I'll pass and see some real talent like the Coup at the Wild Buffalo, Friday and the Rebirth Brass Band at the Fanclub, Saturday.
Go Lions!
