The Simpson Brothers Band win SHORE 104.3's Best of B.C. contest

The Simpson Brothers Band has been announced as the first winner in SHORE 104’s Best of B.C. contest, for the song “Diamonds”. This must be a pretty sweet postscript for the twins from Tsawwassen after they were ditched in the first round of Cover Me Canada last autumn.

“You know, it really is,” Rich Simpson told the Straight. “Cover Me Canada was a really good experience for us, and the most important part was how much we learned about the industry, and our sound, and where we wanted to take it. Winning the Best of B.C. contest has been a kind of affirmation of everything we decided after the show. “

“Diamonds” reflects the more upbeat, pop-rock direction the Simpsons decided to take upon their return. Brother Rob said that the horn-infused track was written and recorded piecemeal—“whenever we could pay people to come to the studio to help us”—meaning the $10,000 in prize money should come in handy.

SHORE is awarding a Best of B.C. prize. the latest of its efforts to spotlight homegrown songwriting talent, every month until December. For more info, visit the Shore 104.3 website .
