The Slocan brings live music to East Village

Speaking of theMain on Main, owner Tasoe Tsiandoulas is importing the restaurant-venue format to the Hastings Sunrise district (or the “East Village”, if you like, and we don’t). Starting this week, the Slocan (2715 East Hastings Street) starts presenting live music every Thursday to Saturday, to go with the newly renovated wooden bar and draft-beer menu. There is no cover.

“I want it to be a sister restaurant to the Main,” Tsiandoulas told the Straight. “The neighbourhood really took to the Main’s program and we wanna bring the same thing down to that part of town, which really lacks any kind of live entertainment.”

Among this weekend’s inaugural treats is the Lonesome Truth, featuring guitar great Jimmy Roy, on Friday (July 6).

Look, Vancouver is JUST LIKE Manhattan. Really! That's why we're rebranding Hastings-Sunrise, historically known as Hastings Townsite, "East Village".

This is very intriguing... there is a serious dearth of drinking establishments in the area. Maybe they'll even have craft beer on tap.

This is wonderful news. Call it what you like - Hastings Sunrise - East Village - my stomping ground... We really needed a place like this in our neighbourhood. Can't wait to enjoy some cold beer, finger food and live music!

Thanks for checking with the local residents to see if they wanted to be disturbed by bad music and drunk bozos yelling in the alley and on the street after midnight !

You'd think a business owner who had any interest in maintaining good relations with the neighbors would be slightly more considerate.

i hope you get shut down, and fast. this is a quiet redidential area. Take your bar back to Main Street.
