Tennis at the Media Club
We’ve got a thing for tennis, and we don’t care who knows it. Where else can you ogle hotties like Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic in short shorts without having to worry about getting busted? Or watch sweaty dudes like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal go at each other for hours, and then, following the inevitable money shot, hug while tearfully praising each other’s stallion-like performances? We also like Tennis—not the sport, but the husband-and-wife twosome from Denver, who specialize in a lo-fi strain of fuzzy beach pop. In fact, we like them so much that we spent a good part of the last month trying to get them on the phone to talk about their Monday (January 31) show at the Media Club. That we totally struck out doesn’t surprise us. We’ve spent a good year trying to make contact with Sharapova and Ivanovic, only to be slapped with something called a “restraining order”. As much as we love tennis, those associated with tennis—not to mention Tennis—clearly don’t love us.
