Walk Off the Earth at the Vogue Theatre

If you think Gotye has probably grown weary of being known only as the “Somebody That I Used to Know” guy, have a little sympathy for Walk Off the Earth. The Burlington, Ontario–based band has released two albums and one EP of its own songs, but thanks to YouTube, it is known universally as those five people who played “Somebody That I Used to Know” gathered around a single acoustic guitar. Which is better than being known for playing “Baby Elephant Walk” on a single kazoo, but still. Mind you, the video for Walk Off the Earth’s Gotye cover has so far been viewed more than 139 million times, which goes a long way toward explaining why the group is headlining the Vogue Theatre on Sunday (November 25) instead of opening for Brickhouse at the Vancouver FanClub.
