The B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union and LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services have announced a three-year tentative agreement.

"I am very pleased that LifeLabs and the BCGEU were able to work out a fair collective agreement for our employees,” Sue Paish, president and CEO of LifeLabs, said in a news release.  “We are all delighted to return to uninterrupted laboratory services for patients and health care providers throughout the province.”

All LifeLabs patient-service centres, labs, outreach service, resident homes, and senior-care facilities have resumed normal hours of operations.

According to the union and the company, the tentative agreement includes three one-percent pay hikes effective January 1, July 1, and July 1, 2014.

Workers will also be eligible for a lump-sum payment adding up to two percent if they ratify the agreement.

The three-year deal came as a result of mediation, and expires on December 31, 2014.
