Avalanche conditions are "very dangerous" in Vancouver's North Shore mountains, according to the Canadian Avalanche Centre.

The nonprofit organization has rated the avalanche risk as "high" at treeline for Wednesday and Thursday (February 6 and 7).

Below treeline, the forecast is "considerable" risk, which translates to "dangerous" avalanche conditions.

"Forecast heavy snowfall and strong winds will create widespread avalanche instabilities. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended," the CAC states.

On Friday (February 8), the avalanche risk is forecast to drop to "considerable" at treeline and "moderate" below treeline.
