Vancouver police confirm body found in house fire as homicide

Vancouver police say the death of a man whose body was found inside a house fire is the city’s third homicide of the year.

Edward Stobie Billy, 20, has been identified as the victim, police announced in a news release today (June 28).

The fire happened on the evening of June 15 at a house in the 900 block of East 63rd Avenue.

Investigators initially treated the death as suspicious. An autopsy has since been conducted and the death is now being considered a homicide.

Investigators have also determined the fire was deliberately set.

No arrests have been made in the case, police say.
