Mayor Gregor Robertson removed from real estate website

The organizers of a July 16 Vancouver real-estate conference have made changes to their website after concerns were expressed by Mayor Gregor Robertson’s office.

The website vancouver2020.org previously featured photos of Robertson, Surrey mayor Dianne Watts, and Premier Christie [sic] Clark on the home page, which promotes an “invite-only conference” that “will plan Vancouver’s real estate future for the year 2020”.

“The City of Vancouver’s Mayor’s office will lead the discussion about how the real estate landscape is expected to change and discuss the plans for growth from now through 2020 and beyond,” the site still says.

On July 8, the mayor’s office wrote to Trenton Rodney and Jacob Hallahan of vancouver2020.org to request removal of the City of Vancouver logo, the mayor’s photo, and references to the mayor’s office leading the discussion.

By July 10, the logo and the mayor’s image were gone, but the website still says that Robertson’s office will lead the discussion. Robertson’s photo was replaced with an image of Coun. Raymond Louie, who is one of the scheduled speakers.

Photos of Clark and Watts have also been deleted from the website.

So what does Councillor Louie have to say? Is he in fact "leading the discussion"? And if so, can his constituents attend?

Yes, Mr Robertson is savvy at making deals with developers, who are loving him. Not sure they are in the best interests of the city residents, though

For instance, check out this rezoning application of 508 Helmcken. The developer has found a way to let the City allow him to break every guideline in the New Yaletown area of Downtown South:
THREE times allowable floor plate size
      FIVE times allowable height
      SIX times allowable density
and 10 floors down of underground parking

      Details at http://508helmcken.weebly.com/

And you can sign a petition opposing the rezoning before July 16 at

      Charlie,

I always get immense pleasure out of the Mayor Gregor shots you post.

That constant flat-faced look, quizzical look, one thatis incapable of comprehension or 'deep thoughts'. Those eyes, devoid of the light of intellect. Those lips, glued together, on orders from his Betters on the Third Floor...

Truly representative of an empty vessel that must be replenished by others. Shurely, he'll make a fine MP (eventually) one day: one that the creme de la cremers along Pt. Grey Road who live in big, ugly bunkers (soon to be barricaded...er...gated by bike lanes) can be truly proud of.

He's the hero of greenwashers, everywhere! All hail the Prodigal Son! (Well, he never goes away, so technically...)

      Keep up the good work!
