Opposing graffiti linked to support for police state

Letter writer and “eyes and ears of the police” David M. Johnson prioritizes property ownership over dissenting voice (graffiti) [Letters, July 18-25]. Without dissenting voice, we have a police state. Likely Johnson would prefer that, but many of us wouldn’t, thanks.

@Guinevere; Are you seriously trying to compare the ID tags to a dissenting voice. IMO, 99.99% of graffiti is just how the pathetic and inept make their public but illegible smug in life.

It is clear that Ms.Pencarrick has never owned a small business that is required by municipal law to quickly remove any graffiti AT THEIR EXPENSE,even though they might agree with the sentiment expressed. There is always a place for free expression of this type......but it has to be an appropriate venue, like the blank wall on an underpass.
