West Kelowna wildfire rapidly expands

      The Westside Road interface fire in the Okanagan has reached 430 hectares, making it larger than Stanley Park.

      Just last evening it was only 30 hectares. According to the B.C. Wildfire Service, the growth has been occurring up the slope and away from homes in West Kelowna.

      There are 19 firefighters and four air tankers battling the blaze.

      Central Okanagan Emergency Operations has issued an evacuation order for 70 homes along Westside Road. As of 8:28 p.m. on Tuesday (July 21), there has been no known loss of any structures.
