Police in Burnaby are warning the public to "exercise caution" while walking in the area of Lougheed Highway and Government Street late at night.

"Women are encouraged to travel in pairs and to always remain aware of their surroundings," reads a statement issued today (October 11) by Burnaby RCMP.

The warning follows what police say is a series of attacks by a masked man on women in the area, near Lougheed Town Centre.

RCMP officers are investigating three reported assaults, which have taken place since September 18.

All of the incidents happened between 10 p.m. and midnight, according to police, and resulted in the suspect fleeing on foot after the women resisted or screamed.

The suspect is described as follows: "5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 9 inches slim build; unknown ethnicity; dark clothing; possibly wearing a hoody; and a black mask covering the face".

The Burnaby RCMP High Risk Offender Unit is accepting information at 604-294-7922.

Keep your head up and on a swivel. Walk in the middle of the sidewalk in well lit and well travelled areas. Don't run, but don't dawdle. If you think you are being followed or otherwise have a bad feeling, listen to it and get your phone out or seek an occupied space.

Take some fighting classes. It's totally worth it.

When you judge that talking your way out isn't going to work, don't punch or slap, always go straight for the balls with your knees, if you are grabbed from behind go for the feet and shins, twist and smash your elbow in his goddamn throat. And scream out.

Men who assault women are bullies, and bullies are cowards who can't take serious opposition. Break their confidence by hurting them a lot.

      Superman punch.
Pretend to punch them in the face, then kick them in the balls while they're blocking their face!

PS Ruk. Women who assault men are also bullies, this happens quite a bit, men just dont report it.
