B.C. NDP begins search for new provincial secretary
B.C.'s NDP is looking for a new provincial secretary.
The post is currently held by Jan O’Brien, wife of Vision Vancouver councillor Geoff Meggs.
The job posting went up Wednesday (October 30), and closes on November 27.
Following the party’s surprise defeat in this year’s provincial election, former B.C. NDP president and current Burnaby councillor Sav Dhaliwal called for sweeping changes to the party in an interview with the Straight last August.
These included the resignations not only of leader Adrian Dix and president Moe Sihota but also O’Brien.
Dix announced in September that he’s stepping down when a new leader is selected.
Just days after Dix’s announcement, Sihota declared that he is leaving his post when a new president is elected during the B.C. NDP’s convention in November.
“I think the shelf life of a provincial secretary is probably one election cycle,” Dhaliwal told the Straight in August.
