Strategic voting gains ground in Vancouver Granville

More than 3,000 voters in Vancouver Granville have pledged not to split their vote on October 19, says the election-campaign manager of the advocacy group Leadnow.

“The idea is that we are building a block of voters who in a few weeks will choose a candidate together that they can back to defeat the Conservatives,” Amara Possian told the Straight in a phone interview.

Leadnow is also actively organizing in Port Moody-Coquitlam in connection with its Vote Together campaign.

“Because of our broken electoral system, a majority of people can vote for change in a riding, but still elect a Conservative because the vote splits between party lines,” Possian said.

According to Possian, polling commissioned by Leadnow in August shows that the NDP is ahead in Vancouver Granville, a new riding, with a 36 percent level of support. The Conservatives are in second with 30 percent, and Liberals trailing at 24 percent. In Port Moody-Coquitlam, the NDP is out front with 54 percent, and Conservatives falling behind at 27 percent.

Possian said that Leadnow will send committed voters new polling results and information on where candidates stand on issues in mid-October.

I have been undecided.. but this foolish tactic by leadnow has solidified my choice. It's bad enough that unions organize for the NDP and now a coordinated bullying effort for anyone except Conservative. ... nope, this organized hysteria does not fly with me, I'm voting Conservative.

The Leadnow poll seems somewhat suspect, I would say. 308.com which monitors local polling has the Vancouver Granville split thusly: CPC - 17.8%, Lib 44.9%, NDP 26.6% and Green 10.6%. That is a giant discrepancy, leading me to think there is something fishy here.

She looks way too much like Christy Clark and it freaks me out.

Not only too much like Christy Clark, but a rabid zionist too. Much too much time organizing in the U.S. than Canada.

Scare radicalism, and many a misstep in the NDP policies.

The Liberal candidate in that riding is horrifyingly ineffective and in it for herself only, and you'd have to be delusional and hate Canada to vote for a Conservative. Even my lovely Grandmother who is incredibly conservative thinks Harper is evil.

      Riding predictions =/= Polling

From Eric Grenier's own site.... http://www.threehundredeight.com/p/canada.html

*These riding projections are not polls and are not necessarily an accurate reflection of current voting intentions in each riding.*

can we please for the love of god stop calling them polling. I'm grateful to Leadnow for helping folks who want to stop the conservatives. Good on you, looking forward to more local polls soon.

I see that the Amara Possian of LeadNow is also an American.

Perhaps this is what Oreck wants and relies on her small band on the east side of the new gerrymandered riding to waddle to the polls?
