Conservative senator David Braley has quit the red chamber three years ahead of mandatory retirement.

The 72-year-old Hamilton businessperson, who owns both the B.C. Lions and Toronto Argonauts football teams, resigned from the Senate on November 30.

Braley's office told CTV that he is unhappy about the Senate expense scandal.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper appointed him to the upper chamber in 2010.

Braley has owned the B.C. Lions since 1997. He is a former CFL chair and interim commissioner.

Tarred and feathered senators all. Yup. All. They should all resign if they had courage and integrity.

I wonder if he's getting out now before the spotlight falls directly on his expenses?
