Surrey man goes berserk, damaging six RCMP cars and later vandalizing hospital emergency room

Burnaby RCMP officers have probably never seen anything like it before.

Early this morning, a man went on a rampage in a parking lot near the Lougheed Community Police Office, ramming a stolen dark-coloured Jeep Cherokee into a marked police car.

Then he hopped into a rental truck and backed it into two other squad cars before banging into three other police vehicles, according to an RCMP news release.

As he ran away, the police arrested him.

But that wasn't the end of it.

After the Mounties took him to Burnaby General Hospital for an evaluation, he jumped out of a hospital bed and yanked on a sprinkler head, causing a gush of water into the emergency department.

That caused the hospital to close this area and divert patients to other areas.

The man was taken back to the Burnaby RCMP detachment, where he remains in custody.

The RCMP says it will recommend several charges, including mischief to property and theft of over $5,000.

According to the Mounties, the squad cars are seriously damaged.

Someone give that guy medal! Wow, 6 squad cars squashed in 1 swoop... that's gonna be tough to beat. Shouldn't have trashed the ER, though.

Where were the officers during this rampage? Did no one move the other vehicles or just stand and watch? The real damage is to the taxpayers that now have to foot the bill to replace these cruisers as it won't come out of the outpost's budget!

Seems he forgot he wasn't playing Grand Theft Auto V anymore and had actually wandered out into the real world...
