The Canucks have ended a three game road trip by being shut out for the second time this week.

Mike Smith turned aside all 29 shots in goal for the Coyotes in his team's 1-0 victory.

Canucks goalie Eddie Lack was only beaten once on a first-period power-play goal by Antoine Vermette.

The loss comes a night after the Canucks were blown out 9-1 in Anaheim.

The Canucks also lost 1-0 in the first game of the road trip in Los Angeles.

Vancouver had a chance to tie it when Coyote Martin Hanzal received a double minor penalty at 15:55 of the third period for high-sticking David Booth.

The Canucks used to be dangerous when they had the man advantage, but this year their power play ranks only 23rd in the league.

The loss drops Vancouver's record to 24-15-9, leaving them in fourth place in the Pacific Division.

They don't deserve to get past round one of the playoffs, if they even make the cut. This team could use a change, a shakeup...let's try Gillis this time.

When they re-signed the Twins to a long-term contract they pretty well doomed the team for the next decade. At this point I think interest in any of our 'stars' is fading fast and unless they can drop much further in the standings we won't get high picks in the draft. I think we'll eventually need to spend some time in the cellar in order to build a new team, hopefully this time based upon the successful formula of large, fast players with a lot of heart and grit.
