The hometown Canucks entered the third period against Nashville with a 1-0 lead, but goals by Craig Smith and Nick Spalling gave the Predators a come-from-behind victory.

The Canucks' only goal came on a tip-in by Chris Higgins at 9:09 of the second period.

Vancouver missed five power-play opportunities, including a double-minor in the first period when Matt Cullen's stick caught Brad Richardson.

In the third period, the Canucks failed to convert on a power play with less than five minutes to play and down by a goal.

Nashville, on the other hand, scored the game winner on a power play.

The Canucks outshot the Predators 34-26.

Vancouver's next game is on Sundy (January 26) against the Phoenix Coyotes at Rogers Arena.

The Canucks have scored just eight goals in their last seven games.
