Rob Ford parties in Coquitlam before being ticketed

Toronto mayor Rob Ford has told a tabloid newspaper in his city that he's "in shock" after being ticketed for jaywalking near the Burnaby-Coquitlam border.

“I was just walking across the street about 200 feet from my hotel when I was approached by an officer and told I was jaywalking," Ford revealed to the Toronto Sun. "I couldn’t believe it. I said to them ‘Am I under arrest?’ ”

Ford is in the Lower Mainland for a memorial.

He was spotted in The Foggy Dew Irish Pub having fun and dancing before the incident.

One patron, Cherissma Kittmer, tweeted: "Definitely just partied with Rob Ford haha."

Now Rob Ford is in town and he gets a ticket come on???? This stinks Coquitlam RCMP have so little to do than watch that intersection for jaywalkers and it just happens to be Rob Ford they catch please!!!!!! Sorry Rob your visit was tainted by this childish behaviour of our local Timmys enforcers, they probley thought you were trying to jump the line at Tim Hortons!!!!!!! Hang in there and fight the fight your human like the rest of us!!!!!

How would you set up a jaywalking ticket? Are you suggesting Coquitlam RCMP somehow lured him into crossing the road illegally? Or that they're in the back pocket of the Toronto Star and conspired against him? And what about the funeral he was in town for? Was that faked? Did the owners of the pub call the cops? Or maybe it was the Shell station – they have stations in Toronto, after all.

Think about what you're typing. There is literally no possible scenario more absurd to consider than a political set-up. He got caught jaywalking, period. As with everything else he's done, that's his responsibility and his alone.

Rob Ford jaywalking is like a semi running a stop sign.

Was that miserable, ignorant, incompetent, pathetic cretin searched for drugs at the airport?

Rob Ford is the poster boy for Harper's brand of brain dead evangelical insanity.
Despite the absurdly desperate tone of realwickedone's whine about Ford's tickets, it's not a stretch to think that police were notified by a pub patron who loathes the politics of Harper's Great Fat Hope in Toronto. One can also assume that there must be plenty of police in Canada who are appalled that this bloated moron has not been prosecuted yet for his many alleged criminal misdeeds.

@Bela Bugliosi: Are you seriously suggesting that police would respond to a 911 call about someone who might, possibly jaywalk?? Nobody from the pub called police. Ford was caught because (a) He was jaywalking across a very busy multi-lane road, (b) It was dark, (c) He probably looked drunk (he always does), and (d) A police car was passing by.

No. I'm suggesting that someone was in the bar with a direct line to their boss who grinned from ear to ear while dispatching some officers. Or, as you suggest, Ford stumbled right into the line of sight of a patrol car.

Both are possible. What I find intriguing is a reported eyewitness recant over Ford being ticketed for public drunkenness. The RCMP have announced that due to policy they won't publicly acknowledge celebrity charges. This resulted in updates to this story completely missing the earlier references to a reported Public Drunkenness charge for Ford.

      The enabling continues apace....weeeeeeeee

I saw the video of him in the pub and the crowd ate him up. He's definitely the working man's hero in Canada.
