Winds expected to continue after Stanley Park seawall closed indefinitely

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for coastal B.C. for today. It extends across the Lower Mainland and into the Fraser Valley.

Winds are expected to reach 70 to 90 kilometres per hour in some areas.

For Vancouver, gusts may reach 44 kilometres per hour and there will be five to 10 millimetres of rain expected this afternoon.

It's also not going to be as easy to cycle or run around Stanley Park.

That's because the City of Vancouver announced yesterday that the seawall is closed indefinitely between Third Beach and Lions Gate Bridge.

About nine metres of the pathway collapsed because of wind and waves pounding against the shore.
