The Vancouver Canucks looked like winners in the first period of the Heritage Classic, scoring the first two goals.

Jason Garrison's power-play marker at 4:54 followed by Zack Kassian's unassisted goal at 11:27 left fans feeling very comfortable at B.C. Place Stadium.

But the Ottawa Senators responded with four unanswered goals over the final 45 minutes of the game, defeating the home team 4-2.

Colin Greening's empty-net wrist shot at 18:27 of the third period put the game away.

Canucks winger Daniel Sedin left he game with an injury in the second period after a collision with the Senators' Marc Methot.

Sedin appeared to have hurt his leg.

Prior to the game, the Canucks announced that former coach and general manager Pat Quinn would be admitted into the Canucks' "Ring of Honour" before the April 13 game against the Calgary Flames.

He'll join former players Harold Snepsts, Orland Kurtenbach, Kirk McLean, and Thomas Gradin.

Quinn was behind the bench when the Canucks went to the Stanley Cup final in 1994, losing in the seventh game to the New York Rangers.

I wonder if in the post-Gillia era the Canucks will continue to retire the numbers of the team's continual succession of never-was's, as surely as Smyl, Linden, Naslund were. If so, then no doubt 22 and 33 will get hoisted. And when the former's tribute video is played, I hope the editor out of honesty - and protest - slips this one into the mix:
