The Canucks' penalty killers kept the Lightning off the scoresheet nine out of 10 times last night on the way to a 2-1 victory.

It was only the second Vancouver victory on a six-game road trip.

Goalie Jacob Markstrom filled in for the injured Ryan Miller, turning away 26 of 27 shots.

Sven Baertschi opened the scoring for the Canucks at 15:57 of the first period with assists from Radim Vrbata and Alex Biega.

Jonathan Marshessault tied the game for Tampa Bay in the final minute of the second period.

Then it fell to the Sedins twins to put the game away midway through the third period. Daniel Sedin notched his 16th goal and Henrik posted his 23rd assist.

The Canucks go into the Christmas break with a 13-14-9 record.

Vancouver is back at home on Boxing Day to host the Edmonton Oilers.
