TransLink has resumed service on the Expo and Millennium lines following last night's earthquake.

Natural Resources Canada reported a 4.3-magnitude earthquake at 11:39 p.m. on Tuesday (December 29). It was centred eight kilometres from Sidney, B.C.

The regional transportation authority responded by shutting down SkyTrain service on its two oldest lines, replacing the trains with bus bridges. This was done to ensure that the guideways weren't damaged.

The earthquake, which was measured at 4.8 on the Richter scale by the U.S. Geological Survey, was felt by residents in Vancouver, Victoria, and other parts of southwestern B.C.

There are no reports of damage from this seismic event, which occurred 42 kilometres underground.
