A sport utility vehicle has crashed into one of Vancouver's last independent bookstores.

CBC News has reported that nobody was injured when a Lexus plowed through a front window of Banyen Books & Sound in Kitsilano.

The motorist reportedly said he swerved to avoid a pedestrian around 2 a.m. in the intersection of West 4th Avenue and Dunbar Street.

Banyen was founded in 1970 and describes itself as "Canada's most comprehensive metaphysical bookstore". It sponsors many events in the store and elsewhere in the community.
