The B.C. NDP managed to capture both provincial by-elections tonight in the Lower Mainland.

As Melanie Mark achieved a landslide victory in Vancouver–Mount Pleasant, the party's candidate in Coquitlam–Burke Mountain eked out a narrower win.

With nearly all the ballots counted, the executive director of the Autism Support Network, Jodie Wickens, has more than 46 percent of the votes, compared to 38 percent for B.C. Liberal and small businesswoman Joan Isaacs.

The Greens' Joe Keithley was hovering around 14 percent. Keithley is the frontman for the band D.O.A.

Libertarian Paul Geddes was in fourth place with just under two percent of the vote.

Wickens was helped by a large campaign team, which included visits to the constituency from many NDP MLAs.
