The Vancouver Canucks allowed three goals in the third period tonight in a disappointing 4-1 loss to the Calgary Flames.

It dropped the Canucks' home record to 9-10-5 this season.

Despite recording 35 shots, the Canucks could only beat Calgary goalie Jonas Hiller once on a goal by Emerson Etem at 18:26 of the third period. It was his Etem's first of the season.

Canucks goalie Ryan Miller stopped 26 shots and allowed goals by Michael Frolik in the second period and Sean Monahan in the third period.

Flames centres Michael Backlund and Sam Bennett scored empty-netters later in the third period.

In his first game back in nearly two months, Canucks defenceman Dan Hamhuis was on the ice for 18:51.

The Flames remain in sixth place in the Pacific Division with 23-25-3 record. The Canucks are in fifth place at 20-20-12, just two points behind the fourth-place Arizona Coyotes.
